THE BEST CHRISTMAS ADVERTS 2023 HAS TO OFFER SO FAR

We’ve barely had time to wipe off our Halloween look and pack away our pumpkins before the TV screens were reminding us of another important holiday- Christmas.

Christmas has come early with the spotting of Christmas adverts appearing on our multitude of screens, and we’ve already had some crackers so far!

So, what brand had the best message? Who went for the funny take? And which Christmas adverts have got viewers all choked up? Let’s take a look below at some of the best Christmas adverts 2023 has to offer so far.

John Lewis

I think for many, Christmas truly starts when the John Lewis advert arrives.

Known usually for being a tear jerker, this Christmas advert 2023 goes for a more light hearted approach.

See what you think below:

As a musical lover, it did remind me of a nicer version of Little Shop of Horrors with the Venus Flytrap, but I found it cute and fun.

It took me by surprise in a good way- especially when the presents were eaten!

Coca-Cola

I always remember as a child having the festive feeling when I saw the iconic ‘Holidays are Coming’ advert from Coca-Cola pop up on my TV, and this year Coca-Cola have captured what the true meaning of Christmas is in their latest advert below:

I love that helping people and small acts of kindness are at the centre of the advert, plus it is great to hear singer-songwriter Celeste’s beautiful voice for the advert’s soundtrack. Overall, very festive and wholesome!

Asda

So, I might be a bit biased towards this Christmas advert. The reason? My soft spot for Michael Bublé! Known for being the voice of Christmas, along with Mariah Carey, Asda recognised this by making the singer their new hire!

Check out how Mr Bublé has been adapting to his new role below:

I thought Asda smashed it last year with their advert featuring iconic moments from the Elf movie, but their Christmas advert 2023 shows that they are staying up to date with what entertainment and pop-culture trends consumers associate with Christmas.

Sainsbury’s

Talking of pop culture moments- see which pop icon you can spot in Sainsbury’s Christmas advert 2023:

I feel Sainsbury’s advert has a good mix of festive fun, a few chuckles, and a nice surprise of Rick Astley in the shopping aisles.

Aldi

Kevin the Carrot is back! Christmas wouldn’t feel the same anymore if I didn’t know each year what Kevin was getting up to! Introduced in 2016, viewers have been following the many adventures of this special carrot.

This year, Kevin visits William Conker’s Christmas Factory, a fun interpretation of the story of Willy Wonka, perhaps as the new origin film comes out at the beginning of December 2023. See what Kevin gets up to below:

Now this advert made me laugh out loud in the Escapade office- did you spot the cheeky part that made me chuckle?

Morrisons

Following in the light-hearted fun was Morrisons Christmas advert 2023. Who knew oven gloves could be festive and funny?

What I liked about this advert was how the lyrics of Starship’s ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now’ matched up with the making of Christmas dinner in unique ways, all involving the group of oven glove characters. An advert to make you smile!

Disney

2023 has been a big year for Disney as it celebrated its 100th anniversary, and its new film Wish is due to be released in late November.

Taking inspiration from their latest release, their 2023 Christmas advert tells stories about families all around the world who wish to be with their loved ones during the holiday season. The advert is also in support of the charity Make-A-Wish, and includes the popular Disney song ‘A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes’ from Cinderella.

It was great to see such an inclusive advert featuring many different cultures and languages, all united together in song.

Shelter

I’d like to end this roundup with Shelter’s Christmas advert 2023. This heart-breaking campaign follows a young girl Maddie who hears that if you are ‘as good as gold’ you can be put onto Santa’s nice list and get your Christmas wish.

But no matter how good Maddie is, she doesn’t ger her wish. See why below:

This advert reminds us all that there are more than 131,000 children that will wake up without a home on Christmas. If you wish to support Shelter, check out their website to see how you can help https://england.shelter.org.uk/.

Summary

Overall, I think lots of brands have captured that warm festive feeling that Christmas brings and have reminded us all to be kind to one another, help others, and to appreciate our loved ones.
