I’m sure by now, you have heard of Veganuary! If not, where have you been?
Launched in 2014, Veganuary is a registered charity that has supported and inspired MILLIONS of people from around the world to try a vegan diet in January.
Making a lifestyle change can be really challenging, especially when you are talking about removing an entire food group from your diet. No more bacon sandwiches, chicken kievs or Roast Beef dinners! However, changing to a plant-based diet can benefit your health as well as the environment, so having a go for just a month might just be the best decision you’ve ever made.
With many businesses now producing more vegan friendly products and meals in restaurants, the dietary change does not seem as daunting as it used to. In fact, during Veganuary 2020, there were 650 new vegan product launches and over 550 new vegan options added to restaurant menus. That’s huge!
Signing up to Veganuary’s 31 day vegan pledge means you will receive daily emails containing recipes, meal plans and information on nutrition. The best thing about taking the Veganuary pledge is that you are not alone.
400,000 people, from 192 countries, participated in Veganuary 2020 meaning they had participants in every country but three! With 98% of the participants surveyed in 2020 saying they would recommend Veganuary to others, 2021 may just be the biggest year yet.
But how many of those who participated in 2020 planned on staying vegan for the rest of the year?
“72% reported they had maintained a vegan diet throughout January said they now plan to stay vegan!” – That’s 288,000 people!
So as January 2021 draws to a close and the end of the 31 day pledge is rapidly approaching, will you be keeping your new plant-based diet, going back to your old one or maybe even doing a mix of both?
