JULY’S STANDOUT CAMPAIGNS: ESCAPADE’S MONTHLY CONSUMER MARKETING ROUND-UP

As summer hits its stride, brands across the UK and beyond have dialled up the creativity — delivering some of the boldest and most culturally relevant consumer marketing campaigns we’ve seen all year.

From playful product drops and reactive headlines to campaigns with social impact, July proves that clever media use and cultural relevance continue to earn attention in the crowded consumer landscape.

1. A Match Made in Ketchup: Heinz Finds Love Courtside

Heinz’s Lost in Love campaign serves up a simple but satisfying truth: when the food hits just right, nothing else matters.

A tennis fan becomes completely absorbed in his ketchup-covered hot dog, tuning out the match — and the world — in favour of that one perfect bite. It’s funny, relatable, and classic Heinz.

This is simple consumer marketing that just works: product-led, insight-driven, and instantly memorable.

2. A Cold Serve from Sainsbury’s: Reactive Copy at Its Best

Sainsbury’s scored with a smart, reactive consumer marketing campaign following the Lionesses’ UEFA Women’s Euro victory. After a tense penalty shootout against Spain, the brand rolled out a nationwide digital OOH ad featuring a chilled gazpacho soup with the clever line: “Not the only dish best served cold.”

Timing is everything in reactive marketing — and with a fast-moving brief and no guarantee of the outcome, this activation is a brilliant example of how agility and wit can create real impact.

3. Skewering Convention: Waitrose Gets Playful with Summer Eating

Waitrose went big — literally — with 3D kebab skewers bursting through billboards in Camden and Westfield White City. The campaign brings to life the playful line: “Anything is a kebab if you put a skewer through it!”

The OOH builds are part of Waitrose’s wider Let your summer side out campaign, which encourages more relaxed, spontaneous mealtimes over the summer. The activation is a creative and physical demonstration of how consumer marketing can be immersive, fun, and full of flavour.

4. Pubs, Pints, and Purpose: Clarkson’s Choir

Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone Lager campaign is making waves — and not just because it was reportedly too bold for traditional media.

The campaign features a choir of 34 real farmers singing an anthem in support of British agriculture and the pub industry. It’s an unexpected but powerful fusion of heritage and humour, fronted by one of the UK’s most recognisable personalities.

With pub closures rising and farming facing mounting challenges, Clarkson’s approach to consumer marketing goes beyond selling beer — it’s about protecting a way of life. His singing farmers will even record custom songs for pubs that stock Hawkstone. (*Video contains strong language)

5. Rice Meets Rice: Müller Teams Up with Footballer for New Flavour Launch

England star Declan Rice is the face of Müller’s latest flavour launch — Raspberry & White Chocolate — in a campaign that blends celebrity, humour and product relevance perfectly.

The activation kicked off with a surprise takeover of Rice’s favourite café, cheekily renamed Dec’s Café for the occasion. Supported by social, OOH and point of sale, the campaign leans into the play on names while putting Müller’s playful brand personality centre stage.

It’s a great example of consumer marketing that doesn’t just partner with a celebrity — it gives them a meaningful (and memorable) role in the brand story.
