As we are faced with darker nights and colder days it won’t be long until we are immersed in the winter season and all it has to offer.

The return of the Christmas markets across the UK has been a long-awaited moment for many. We just can’t wait for the hum of Christmas music, the bustle of market stalls and the smell of hot chocolate to leave us full to the brim with festive spirit.

According to an article by Heart, the excitement has only just started “with Bath, Birmingham, London and Manchester all confirming their festive events will be returning for winter 2021”. Whilst the events of 2020 prevented the markets from taking place, they are back and better than ever to make Christmas 2021 one we will certainly want to remember.

What to expect

With the uncertainty of the past two years, the Christmas markets were cancelled and did not seem to show any signs of returning. Yet, with current circumstances permitting, the influx of Christmas markets in the next few months is a hopeful prospect.

As revealed by My London News, the best of London’s winter markets will make a welcomed appearance this year. Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland is back with fairground rides, ice rinks and entertainment for six weeks of endless fun! As one of London’s most renowned events, it has always generated a lot of attention and never fails to thrive year after year.

At the heart of London’s theatre scene, Christmas in Leicester Square captures the authentic side to the festive traditions with stalls to buy hand-crafted gifts and visit Santa’s Grotto. Christmas By the River is in its seventh year and will run for six weeks. The market runs along the Thames riverside between London Bridge and Tower Bridge so you can experience London in all its beauty. If you enjoy a cosy fire pit and roasting chestnuts the Alpine Village at Kingston’s Christmas Market is perfect. With over 40 festive wooden cabins all selling unique and handmade gifts it certainly is a market to remember.

Everything the nation loves about this time of year is always perfectly wrapped up in the extravagance of our Christmas markets. So, let’s look forward to celebrating the Christmas markets triumphant return this year!

T’is the season for fun, festivities and well of course… Christmas markets!
