Get ready to indulge in a cherished British pastime as the UK gears up for a week dedicated to afternoon tea. National Afternoon Tea Week takes place from Monday, August 12 to Sunday, August 18, 2024.
This event celebrates the quintessentially British tradition of enjoying a delightful afternoon tea, offering an array of savoury and sweet bites, sandwiches, and of course scones! Alongside an endless pot of your favourite brew or bubbly.
The UK Tea and Infusions Association (UKTIA) reported that a staggering 98% of people in the UK enjoy tea daily with over 100 million cups each year. Among these tea lovers, 57% of tea drinkers add dairy milk, 10% add plant milk, 27% add sugar and 12% use a low-calorie sweetener.
The 2024 Tea Census results revealed that 30-44-year-olds are most likely to choose loose-leaf black tea, with 27% favouring this traditional option compared with 16% of those aged 18-29, 12% of 45-59-year-olds, and only 1 in 10 of those aged 60+.
Whether you’re in the mood for a classic afternoon tea experience, something new, or even a boozy twist, London has various options to explore. It’s the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends and enjoy a timeless tradition.
