APRIL’S STANDOUT CAMPAIGNS: ESCAPADE’S MONTHLY CONSUMER MARKETING ROUND-UP

April delivered a strong mix of cultural relevance, smart brand extensions and nostalgia-led storytelling across consumer marketing.

From April Fools’ humour that almost fooled us to timely cultural tie-ins with the London Marathon and The Devil Wears Prada 2 that landed at exactly the right moment, here are five campaigns that stood out this month.

1. Dyson Pet: April Fools’ Done the Dyson Way

April Fools’ Day can be a high-risk moment for brands, but Dyson demonstrated exactly how to do it well. The brand “announced” an extension into pet grooming, complete with a high-spec blow dryer for cats and dogs.

What made it particularly effective was how believable it felt. At first glance, it sat comfortably within Dyson’s world of premium, engineering-led beauty and grooming innovation. It was only on closer inspection that the date gave it away. That tension between “could this be real?” and “surely not” is exactly what made it shareable.

2. Burger King’s Ultimate Post-Race Reward

Burger King UK’s “Whopper of a Finish” campaign tapped into London Marathon weekend, positioning the Whopper as the ultimate post-race reward after 26.2 miles.

Built on the insight that runners increasingly share their first post-finish meal on social media, the campaign reframed the Whopper as the “finish line after the finish line.”

Featuring real marathon runners photographed immediately after finishing, the work captures exhaustion, pride and relief.

Running across OOH, print and social, finishers could claim a free Whopper at select central London restaurants, including The Strand and Leicester Square, by showing their medal, turning a cultural moment into a simple, shareable reward.

3. Elevating the Office Lunch with Walkers x Heinz

Your Little Slice of Joy brings a bold, unapologetic energy to Walkers’ iconic identity. In a world of external pressures and compromise, it celebrates the small moments where people put themselves first.

Walkers and Heinz have teamed up to bring two comfort-food icons together in the latest campaign creative. A playful, office-led idea, encourages the nation to enjoy Walkers in whatever way brings them joy – including the crisps-in-a-sandwich ritual, paired with Heinz mayo at lunchtime.

Spanning OOH, TV, radio and social, the campaign encourages people to ignore judgement, embrace their quirks and “Go All In” on their Walkers and Heinz combinations.

4. Tesco’s Giant Act of Giving

Tesco has launched a new campaign alongside the expansion of its Free Fruit & Veg for Schools programme, which will double from September from 500 to over 1,000 schools, with plans to double again the following year.

The campaign centres on a giant character who travels between schools, shrinking as he shares pieces of himself – a simple metaphor for giving and access.

The idea runs across film, OOH and print, with appearances at schools supported by high-impact placements including Piccadilly Lights and Manchester Printworks’ Skylights, plus social activity and Tesco home shopping vans bringing the story to life nationwide.

Rather than simply communicating health or affordability, the campaign focuses on action, directly improving access to fresh produce in schools and making its purpose feel tangible and real-world.

5. A Runway Reunion: Diet Coke x The Devil Wears Prada

Ahead of one of the year’s most anticipated sequels, Diet Coke has launched a campaign film as part of its integrated partnership with The Devil Wears Prada 2.

Titled That’s All., the film shows life inside RUNWAY Magazine the moment editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly leaves the office. With Miranda out of sight, the office springs into subtle rebellion as assistants, designers and stylists seize a rare moment of freedom to enjoy a Diet Coke. The film ends with the iconic line, “That’s all.”, before revealing a silver fanny pack – a couture “Canny Pack” designed to perfectly hold a single can of Diet Coke.

The collaboration extends across TV, digital, social and OOH, including a branded red-carpet activation in New York featuring the Canny Pack and Diet Coke-silver couture looks.

It’s a timely cultural play, reactivating a much-loved reference point to position Diet Coke as both nostalgic and firmly of the moment.

April’s standout work reflects a clear shift towards ideas rooted in recognisable cultural moments, but reinterpreted through sharper, more intentional lenses.

Whether through humour grounded in brand truth, collaborations that amplify cultural relevance or purpose-led platforms with real impact, the strongest campaigns this month are those that feel simple, timely and easy to understand – yet still smart enough to earn attention.
