As we slowly reach November, the excitement of bonfire night and firework displays certainly doesn’t hold back! The crackle of flames, the sweet aroma of toffee apples and the roar of sparklers… it’s a moment we all remember and look forward to this time of year!
For years, areas all across the UK have put time and money into creating an unforgettable evening that everyone of all ages can enjoy. According to an article in the Telegraph, firework displays have been cancelled due to the spiralling cost of living crisis. Despite this, across the UK multiple locations are still starting their preparations for a night full of fun, fireworks and food!
For me the best thing about firework night has to be toffee apples. If you’re staying in for the night why not try and get creative with BBC Good Food’s, 5 Ways with Toffee Apples. Here are just a few recipes perfect for those cosy nights in!
Rocky Road

“Your favourite traybake in toffee apple form, this treat is crunchy and mallowy all in one. To make, melt 100g dark chocolate, and crush 6 digestive biscuits and 1 Crunchie into small pieces. Push a lollipop stick through the middle of 6 apples, then drizzle over the chocolate and stick on the crushed pieces of digestive and Crunchie, plus a handful of mini marshmallows. Leave to set.”
Salted Peanut

“White chocolate lovers will be happy to hear that this treat made our list. Sweet chocolate and salted peanuts are a match made in heaven. To make, melt 225g white chocolate. Push a lollipop stick into the middle of 6 apples, then dunk in the chocolate and cover with 115g chopped salted peanuts. Eat once set.”
Very Vegan

“There’s an apple for every guest, including your vegan friends. Even non-vegans will want a bite of this coconutty treat. To make, mix 6 tbsp melted coconut oil with 6 tbsp cocoa powder and 3 tbsp maple syrup. Push a lollipop stick into the middle of 6 apples, then dunk in the chocolate mixture and sprinkle over 50g coconut flakes. Put in the fridge to harden.”
