✨ THIS IS MY MEAL AND I CALL IT… GIRL DINNER ✨

The newest trend on TikTok, known as ‘girl dinner’, has taken the internet by storm. This trend has sparked an endearing and humorous conversation about the unconventional meals that women occasionally put together for themselves. Started by TikTok creator karmapilled, who shared her ‘girl dinner’ consisting of a half-eaten ice cream which now has over 17.5 million views. The girl dinner trend is now being celebrated with the concept of enjoying a variety of unique and questionable food choices – essentially small picky bits for dinner.

The Sun shared that in the past 50 years, the size of an average dinner plate has grown six centimetres – it is now 28 cm (11 inches) compared to 22 cm (8.6 inches) in the 70s.

Health experts believe many of us have “portion distortion” and our waistlines are paying the price for our regular overeating. Researchers from Cambridge University found that we can cut around 279 calories a day, roughly 12% to 16% of the energy we get from our food if we avoid overfilling our plates.

Interestingly, the girl dinner TikTok trend presents a contrasting perspective. While studies indicate that overeating is a widespread issue, the trend’s popularity suggests that people are undereating which proposes that an awareness is needed for moderation.
