Chrissy Teigen started the New Year by giving a good humoured thanks to John Legend for not only being her husband-husband, but specifically her #InstagramHusband… A growing hashtag that has now generated over 125,000 posts, and it’s not just a saying… This is a real job for some guys!
“Thank u for always supporting my Instagram dreams. This train only moves because of you(r phone) .. you are the tracks that lay the foundation .. creating a direct path to hope and possibilities of likes and curated content. what u do is important. I will never take u for granted, my king” @ChrissyTeigen
So if you’ve ever wondered “how have they got the time to do all of that?” or “why do their pictures always look so good?”, the chances are there’s an #InstagramHusband behind the scenes! And the terms doesn’t literally have to mean a husband, it’s genderless, it’s simply that person whose job it is to capture the perfect ’gram-worthy shot for popular influencers.
And now you know it is actually a thing, you’ll notice it more everywhere! Those tourist hot spots, beaches, monuments, everywhere, any ‘grammer worth their money will have their #InstagramHusband on board! What’s interesting with this trend however, is that for some, this has now become a proper paid job, and the hashtag is catching on so much that the #InstagramHusband’s are almost becoming stars themselves!
In the States, Thomas Berolzheimer co-runs the business of his wife, Julia Engel; she’s a lifestyle influencer with 1.2 million followers. Berolzheimer has 64,000 Instagram followers of his own, making him an influencer in his own right. Similarly, Ted Raad, the husband of Dede Raad, a lifestyle influencer with nearly half a million followers, changed his bio to read “Professional IG husband” and often posts unfiltered shots of his wife.
The lifestyle and travel influencer Lindsay Silberman’s husband, Matthew Stevens, even went so far as to change his Instagram handle to @InstaHusband. Stevens is quoted as saying he lurked on the #InstagramHusband hashtag on Instagram and connected with other men that way after interacting with their photos. “It’s almost this silent brotherhood right now,” he said. “It hasn’t become a full community yet, but it’s on the verge of breaking out … And I think it’s gonna be huge.”
Giving fans a whole new level of insight into their favourite influencers, this is one trend that we can’t wait to see make a splash here in the UK!
