This week, we’re getting to know Eli Brecher a recipe developer, food stylist and nutrition student looking to make nutrition less stressful!

When did you first set up your social channels, and what got you started?

I set up my Instagram @elibrechernutrition during my first year at university in 2014. I was going through a Crohn’s flare-up and couldn’t tolerate much food so I was searching for healthy recipe inspiration and easy meal ideas that were easy for a student on a budget, with a list of intolerances! I started getting creative in the kitchen and set up my website www.elibrecher.co.uk to share the recipes I was experimenting with.

How has the digital landscape changed for you and how you share content since then?

Instagram, my main platform, is constantly bringing out new features such as swipe-up links, highlights, carousel albums and story polls. I try to take advantage of these and to keep my feed exciting!

What advice would you give a brand or consumer lifestyle PR representative looking to potentially work with you on creating content?

Make the proposal personalised, and only approach people whose channels would genuinely fit well with the product. I’ve been contacted by brands from totally different industries asking me to promote everything from cleaning products to baby food – neither of which fit with my page!

What kind of projects do you enjoy doing most?

I love creating delicious recipes for brands whose products I would naturally buy (like peanut butter or dark chocolate) and getting really creative with the food styling and photography. Getting to eat it afterwards is definitely a bonus!

What advice would you give someone looking to build their social channels?

The most important thing is to focus on the quality of your content and to stay engaged with your audience – reply to every comment and DM, and get to know those who interact with your page.
