As we approach International Women’s Day, it’s the perfect time to appreciate the sacrifices women have made before us and the ways we can continue to empower women today.

The focus of International Women’s Day 2022 “is all about recognising how frequently women are negatively impacted by gender bias. It encourages us all to call out discrimination and stereotyping whenever we see and hear it, so we can forge a way for gender equality.”

An article in Metro looks at a number of high-street brands who “have all rallied behind The White Company founder Chrissie Rucker and her #ChangeAGirlsLife campaign. Rucker launched the initiative four years ago to help more disadvantaged girls access free courses at The Prince’s Trust – and this year an incredible 75 leading outlets have united in support, offering discounts and donations.”

Rucker says: ‘I was thrilled that so many UK brands came together to support our campaign. The funds raised will support more young women to have access to the free courses at The Prince’s Trust – and give them help to find the confidence to start their own career journeys.”

According to an article in Independent, beauty fashion and homeware brands are all taking steps to support this day, through bespoke products and donating a percentage of their profits companies are collectively trying to play there part. Whilst industries are taking this an opportunity to show their support, it is important to appreciate the ambition behind the day itself…

“Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.”
